Earlier this fall, we entered Henry into a contest from Bass Pro Shops for a chance to win a new bass fishing boat and a trip to a fishing competition. While Henry did not win the intended prize, we won the prize of looking back at how much he has enjoyed fishing at the pond over the years.
We took a long overdue trip to the farm shortly after school started. It was quick, but sweet. We visited Great Grandpa, and the girls enjoyed a cookie and (trying to) cuddle Barney.
Over the last 13 years, we've commandeered Grandpa's (Mike's) tractor shelter at the top of the hill for a variety of non-tractor related reasons. Whether hosting an event (2 weddings) or storing various equipment (it once stored a tandem bicycle Ashley and Kemble received as a wedding gift), the clutter piled up. So, in the midst of the stay-at-home orders of the COVID-19 pandemic, we all brainstormed on ideas to clear up some space for Grandpa in his shelter while also providing a space for the 2nd generation families (Lays and Teagues) to store equipment and vehicles.
We enjoyed a really great long stay at the farm for Christmas break. We all arrived Christmas afternoon and stayed for five nights - it was such a fun trip full of sweet memories. Thankfully, the new shelter is nearly complete, and we were able to host Christmas supper inside with heaters and a (really big) Christmas tree. Uncle Billy and Uncle Bobby both came, but we missed Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Martha who had to quarantine.
We spent one night at the farm on a whim when Pippa was born. We decided it was the easiest way to get to see her, so we packed up quickly on a Saturday morning, and drove to the Bluff House. The weather was perfect with quite a bit of fall in the air, and the girls were so excited to get to be outside. It’s so fun to watch them get bigger and gain enough confidence to do a little wandering on their own. Vivi, Brigette, and Ellie enjoyed walking from Grandpa’s shop to the Bluff House, all on their own.
